Cheaper Electric Cars

Massive Price Reduction for Citroen C-Zero and Peugeot i0n.

Citroen and Peugeot have reduced the price of their electric cars in the face of stiff competition from Renault.

The companies have reduced the price from £33,155 to £26,216 and, after taking into account the Government electric car grant, this means an on the road price of £21,216. Finally the cost of electric cars is beginning to slip into the reach of the everyday motorist.

The new Renault Zoe is priced at £13,650 (after the grant) but does not include the cost of the battery pack, whereas the Citroen and Peugeot price does. Renault buyers need to sign up to a battery leasing scheme costing £70 per month (based on a 36 month, 6,000 mile per year contract).

But at last realistic choice is creeping into the market and buying an electric car is becoming a serious consideration. But long charging times and limited range continue to be an issue.
