The DSA
Here's something to surprise you - we FULLY support the DSA and the work they do. We think they are under funded and tasked with an impossible job.

In a nutshell, they set standards for drivers and riders, provide driver education, register and supervise instructors, set and conduct driving tests. It's a big job.
The really frustrating thing is that many driving instructors and their organisations are openly hostile to the DSA and tend to work against them rather than with them. The result is that this feeling gets passed on to you, the pupil, and as your test gets nearer you start to regard your examiner as 'the enemy'. That's bad news.
The examiner is your friend. Very few, if any, examiners want to tell you you've failed at the end of your test - they much prefer to tell you you've passed and they will give you every opportunity to do that. They understand you will be nervous and will try to put you at ease.
I'll say it again - the examiner is your friend. If you get an instructor who tells you otherwise, change instructors.
