9.1. Parallel Parking

Before taking this lesson, please read and agree to our Terms and Conditions

Suggested length - One and a half hours.

Introduction:

The parallel park is one of two parking manoeuvres you may be given on the test. Note, however, that you will never be given both.

The object of the manoeuvre is to reverse park parallel to the kerb, behind another car and in a limited space. You will be expected to finish the manoeuvre approximately half a car length behind the vehicle you are parking behind and no more than a couple of centermetres from the kerb.

As with all manoeuvres, you should complete it under full control and with proper observation and consideration for other road users.

Please note that the method I shall describe is the one I teach. Other instructors may teach it a different way.
