Introduction:

This manoeuvre is sometimes called the three point turn, or 3 point turn.

I usually teach this as the first manoeuvre. Before attempting it, first make sure you are confident with controlling the car at slow speed (clutch and brake control in a manual, brake control in an automatic) and reversing in a straight line.

Strangely enough, the manoeuvre isn’t given in the test incase one day you are lost and need to turn around, it is given to assess how well you control a car at very slow speeds, how well you reverse and to see whether or not you have basic understanding of how to keep the car and other road users safe.

In this lesson you will learn:

How to control the car at slow speed

Steering and clutch/brake co-ordination

How to turn the car safely with minimum inconvenience to other road users
